What to Expect

Initial appointment: This appointment is an hour long to give you, the client, an opportunity to tell your story. Everyone comes to therapy for their own unique reason. During this session I will ask you some questions about your background, your experiences, and what it is that is bringing you into therapy. If time allows, we will also discuss and agree on your therapeutic goals.

First regular session: The standard psychotherapy session is 50 minutes long. If we did not have a chance at your initial appointment to set goals, we will do so now, and discuss ways to achieve those goals.

Regular sessions 2 – 12: During this time we will work to help you reach your therapeutic goals. At our 12th session we will evaluate progress, change or adapt your goals, and discuss where to go from here. Some goals can take many years to accomplish, while others can be met much faster.

Sessions 13+: We continue working towards your goals. It is common for new goals to be added or old goals to be dropped as time goes on.

Final session: Once all goals have been met we will have a final appointment to review your progress and wrap things up. This is generally a standard length session.
